I really can’t say enough about my love for this wedding. I haven’t wanted to share it because in a way, I am mourning my excitement now that it’s over.
Katie and I went to the same graduate school. She studied fiber arts and made quiet, natural artwork with rings of four leaf clovers, broken rocks reassembled. I first noticed her during beginning of the year presentations, when she mentioned spending the summer working on a biodynamic farm in Kentucky. Two years later, I got to visit that farm, Foxhollow, and photograph her wedding to Pavel.
Pavel’s garden provided all the vegetables for dinner. Katie and friends grew the flowers, and she built the arbor with her father. They had seven different wedding cakes, all made by friends and family. Their close friends Alex and Greta performed at the ceremony, and Alex called square dances into the night.
This day was a reflection of the closeness, joy and love of Katie, Pavel and their family and friends. Being a part of it changed me, because they shared genuine love with me. I feel so lucky.
